Internships
PIIM offers internship opportunities for individuals currently enrolled at The New School and other institutions of higher education. We seek applicants looking to gain valuable experience working with our talented internal team, clients, and partners. Our program provides an opportunity to engage with PIIM in its ongoing research initiatives, contribute to currently-funded projects, and support all day-to-day activities in a variety of ways.
Our interns typically receive course credit for their work at PIIM and enjoy access to our facilities and resources to support their endeavors.
To apply: Send a cover letter and resume to piim@newschool.edu.
Research Fellowship Program
PIIM has established a research fellowship program to encourage advanced research and development in rethinking information logic, scoring, and visualization. The goal of the Research Fellowship Program is to provide resources and support to candidates who will conceptualize and develop new ways of large amounts of data. Candidates will be selected upon originality and novelty in research direction, previous experience and/or reputation in the field, and potential for high impact on PIIM's current and future initiatives.
Fellowships typically run for 3-6 months but can run longer depending on the scope and depth of the research. Fellows will receive access to PIIM's laboratory and research facilities as a primary site of investigation as well as offer technical support and additional resources to support efforts.
To apply: Send a cover letter, resume, and details of current/ongoing/completed research activities to piim@newschool.edu.
Call for Candidates: Medical Informatics Research
PIIM is seeking candidates who will help us reach our future objectives in the field of Medical Informatics. Fellows will conduct independent research that will integrate with current efforts of the PIIM team. It is of utmost importance that research fellows find not only innovative ways of understanding and visualizing data but to discover new ways that will fuel real-world solutions in the field of Medical Informatics.
PIIM's primary research objectives in the field of Medical Informatics are:
- To uncover new theoretical, visual, and technological methods that will allow more successful understanding of the context and relationships within patient and medical.
- To assess and build upon current state-of-the-art technology systems currently in use in public and private Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- To discover conceptual paradigms and/or interactive models that will allow independent and comparative analysis of an individual to the group (e.g. how an individual's health record will affect and compare to the larger sets of healthcare data, etc.).
To apply: Send a cover letter, resume, and details of current/ongoing/completed research activities to piim@newschool.edu.
